Dec. 28: 'Ransom' at 9pm/8c

A young Florida mother is abducted and taken for ransom. After three failed attempts to drop the ransom, no one ever imagined the bizarre way this crime would be solved. Josh Mankiewicz reports Ransom on Friday, December 28th, at 9pm/8c.

A husband gets a frantic phone call from his wife that she was just kidnapped from their $4 million ocean-front home in Florida.  The call will change their lives forever.  Dateline NBC's Josh Mankiewicz reports.

This story reminds me of amateur night. Quite a bit of work for a mere $50,000 and an extremely talkative kidnap victim. Scores of people chasing down these "3 Albanians" who want only $17,000 each (yeah, right!). Me thinks the wife needed the $50,000 and took off with her boyfriend.

    and

"Bosnia E-Qwe? Bosnia E-Qwe? Mr. I'z so smart Bosnia call police by hizself. Oh, yeah, that is E-Qwe."

The One and only person who had Motive and the most to gain was her husband: 1.3 Million Dollars a Year to be exact!!

He was able to gain his freedom from his wife without paying a cent and discredit her in the process!! Welcome to Florida, this happens all the time!!

If you think that rich husbands only use their connections to "get rid of their wives" you are sadly mistaken. There are many schemes and plots which do this very effectivelty, it all depends on how high you are willing to go. Paying immigrants to do your dirty work is nothing new.

The two "Innocent Russians" who just "happened" upon the bag, only to be pulled over by "locals" was a diversion.

When she stated at first there were 3 men, then only one involved in the kidnapping, How true. The one person who should be in jail is her ex-husband..Just like OJ

The Sheriff's Detective is an idiot! He says at one point how he felt for the husband and was "empathetic" and then when the wife, who was obviously involved in the plot, points a finger at the husband, he suddenly was "suspicious of the husband all along." You can't have it both ways. Admit that you don't have a clue and go back to Investigator 101 class!

It seems strange that the woman was never broght to the hospital after being rescued considering she had physical injuries, and is a recovering alcoholic; but stranger was that the Stockholm syndrome, and how it lends itself especially to vulnerable and impressionable people -was never mentioned in the investigation.

It's very disappointing that NBC made viewers believe throughout the show that the "kidnappers" were Albanians. The fact of the matter was that the alleged kidnapper was a lunatic from Bosnia, if not a Serbian. I strongly believe NBC should have posted a disclaimer about this issue.

That's ridiculous. NBC didn't write up this story, they are merely reporting it. If you want to blame anyone for attempting to cast Albanians in a negative light, blame the nut-job victim of this story. As the facts became clear they were presented accordingly.

Why didn't Dateline interview Jasmine, the Bosnian guy who was the kidnapping suspect? The police say that both the wife and he were in on it, and they were both sentenced to jail after pleading no contest. But she claims innocence. Why in the motel tape is the Bosnian guy heard discussing when he will "release her"? That contradicts the police theory. And there is NO evidence of a prior affair between them, that police claim happened . I think that she was a victim of Stockholm syndrome. Certainly $50,000 would have been a paltry sum to her. They were worth millions.

MD B, I agree, obviously Stockholm Syndrome was missing from this "report", so obvious that I almost think it was intentionally left out to make the audience think Quinn was guilty. Quinn was planning her daughter's birthday party. Quinn told every sexual detail and even said she knew she was being recorded by Jasmin during her police interview. I remember being a teenager when Patti Hearst was kidnapped and never believed she went willingly, and could not understand why my parents could not see it, my gosh Patti was engaged and living with her fiancee when it happened!

Our electricity went out (storms) about 20 minutes before the end. What, actually was the final outcoe? Husband and I felt Quinn was involved, but didn't get to see the end. Aghhhhhh!

In her police interview Quinn said she knew kidnapper taped sex and everything they said, and she was acting for him to stay alive and to see her kids again, this really pisses me off that it is implied that
Quinn did not know she was taped when she DID know

Shows once again cops can say anything about anybody, change their minds, point fingers at various "persons of interest" and still people will believe a cop or investigator above the evidence (or even lack of evidence)

I felt like smacking her, I swear. I wouldn't of course. She doesn't have mental problems.

I immediately felt that she was guilty because of her tone of voice while speaking to her husband about the money drop. Something about her reaction to him and her agitation. She was more frustrated and agitated with her "dumb husband" than she was afraid for her life. She slipped up in her own lies when she admitted to her kidnapper going to Publix. She wasn't smart enough to know that the police would actually pull the surveillance tape from store.
