Jun. 22: 'Shattered'

A pretty, young kindergarten teacher is found dead on a Virginia road five miles from her home. She is an apparent victim of a hit and run, but little about the accident scene makes sense. Although investigators suspect foul play, it would take years to untangle the complete mystery.

Dennis Murphy reports Shattered on Friday, June 22, at 9pm/8c.  Watch the full episode online below:

Unfortunately, they cut it. We watched for an hour-and-a half and then got 4 repetitions of Sandusky, which they felt compelled to make us watch even though the program is followed by the news, which then featured...more Sandusky... The web-site doesn't even provide a way to find the ending...

Did they think we might not be able to survive the 30 minute wait for the news to come on?

agb1 I agree with you. Why was it so crucial to cut in when the news would follow shortly? Utter frustration with this network/tv station and their decisions. Have been trying, but can't find any way to watch it online. If anyone does know of a way, please tell me. I can only hope they air the show again soon.

I am upset about the way they left us hanging last night too. Went to the web site and can't find how it ended. It was so close to regular news time, they could have waited. I kept hoping they'd announce that the end would be aired later but they said nothing! NO way to treat your viewers! Makes you not want to spend your time watching for fear they'll cut you off and leave you hanging again.

This was a bizarre episode and so was the verdict. To begin with why was the woman he had 2 kids crying? I thought that maybe he had killed himself because she was crying and referring to him in the past tense. As to the verdict, how could it just take 2 hours to convict someone with literally no evidence? When they showed the "Jury has a verdict after just 2 hours of deliberations" scene I was convinced they had found him innocent cause no one comes back with a guilty verdict after just 2 hours and especially in a circumstantial murder case that the prosecutors were worried could go either way.

Logically we're to believe that on the evening his mother lays dying with him on call he's going to murder his wife and do it in such a way that there is no physical evidence anywhere. Sorry to me there was enough reasonable doubt that if I was a jury based on what was shown in the episode, I would have voted not guilty.

Hersh, this just goes to show that tv doesn't show much. There was quite a bit of evidence and key witness testimony. He was guilty as hell. And before the deliberation, there was a full week of testimonies. I haven't seen the episode, but he was no doubt guilty.

I totally agree! I was so upset they cut into the MOST IMPORTANT part of the episode just until it was over and cut to the news again. I really missed knowing what lead to the ending. Very annoying! I really could have lived with not knowing the immediate verdict of Sandusky....Also annoying I cannot fit it online or on demand to watch it!

Learning the details of this case have me more upset than any of the countless crime documentaries I have watched. The photographs of Justine's bridal shower and their wedding are terribly sad, and they indicate her abject misery (and the obvious dysfunction) in her relationship with Eric. Her facial expressions are heartbreakingly joyless. Justine was clearly unhappy.

Her "husband" seems guilty of her murder, even though the evidence is circumstantial. He showed his disregard for Justine at every turn before and after their wedding/marriage. Apparently, Eric fell into the trap of believing himself to be smarter than law enforcement and others, thinking he could stage her death as a hit-and-run.

Domestic abuse, emotional and physical, is hellish.

Domestic abuse, so often, leads to death.
