Seriously? Are there really people out there that are this stupid?? I wouldn't have given the guy $5, let alone over $25,000 and free access to credit cards and a line of credit. He must have laughed his ass off everytime he went out on a spending spree at how gullible these women were.

I am a black woman who does not prefer black men for the reason that this women was scammed. First of all a black woman would not have let this happen, I should speak for myself. Why can he not take off his sun glasses and let the world see his eyes? Because the eyes are the mirror to the soul and his soul seems to be ugly, one that no one including himself wants to see.
If he was such a successful rap star why would he need anyone else's money?
He needed the money to market and produce his greatest hits cd's. With every investment there is risk. At least she got her desire to have an interracial relationship which she thoroughly enjoyed.

It's the same recipe he used on me, business, only to discover the was none. I's a lonely journey and there is no help. The criminal is the fraudster/the con artist. For now exposing them, via the media, tv or newspaper and trying to stop them from doing it to others is all we can do, until the criminal system catches up, good for you Esther.

Women are seldom motivated by cock alone. Generally, we are not slaves to sex the way that men are. You impose your subjectivity on this women, making many assumptions about her motives. You know nothing about her. But let's just say that she was looking for black cock; so what? Why is this so contentious for you? Why so offensive? Tim Dog is scummy. But the ridiculously positive spin on these "smart, good, loving, down to earth, hard working and only looking for love- white women is silly.
I felt like these women were selling a fake image of themselves that was almost as slick and self serving as these scam artist men.
Tim knew who to go after. It is a waste of tax dollars to continue cleaning up messes that women like these get into because they are looking for money or a "chocolate fantasy".

Unfortunately, this story is no different than what women go through in their own home town, their church, or even their own family. Women have the tendency to want a "project" or someone to fix up. And, for the most part women are trusting creatures. In actuality, mothers should train their daughters to not give a man any sex until after the wedding, money not even for an ice cream or piece of candy, gifts of any kind to anyone period! Mothers should make this a priority! A real man will not ask a woman for money. He would rather die than to ask a woman. A real man will work 2, 3, or 4 jobs just to earn by the sweat of his own brow. In my personal experience when a man asks you for money (no matter how small or large) you need to RUN! Do not give anyone the money you have worked hard for. The loser will not pay you back and you'll be looking stupid. Likewise, mothers and fathers should teach their sons to work by the sweat of his own brow and don't ask anyone for anything. What does it say about the male race that this sort of thing is becoming even more common than Dateline NBC reported. This is a disgrace!
Sorry SHerry, I gotta disagree with you. This story in so many ways- is NOT typical of what women in their home towns got thru.
Those women are dealing with a limited market (so to speak) and a comfort in familiarity because these are men from their towns, church, family. If these men were bad, wouldn't someone else in town, church, family say so?
The women like the ones in the Dateline piece are knowingly taking risks and seeking the strange , exotic,a nd unfamiliar. They are giving up safety for a thrill. Tim Dog wasn't really handsome (even in his pic ) or charming. They WANTED to take that leap in to the dangerous and unfamiliar.

It sure is funny to me how people tend to blame the women. It seems to me that this is about intent. I am sure this guy wasn't interested in any of the women except the gal from OH. His intent was to get what he could from these women and then move on. I do think these women were too trusting of a person that they had just met. He exploited their loneliness and vulnerability. It's a romance scam.
I personally don't care if the guy was purple and she was green. This case was about integrity. Usually what you put out there you get back. Meaning, if you represent yourself as an honest person people respond accordingly. Sometimes that isn't always the case but for the most part it is.
I'm sure these ladies learned from this experience. I am not sure if he did. Part of making a character change is to feel bad about what happened.... I just didn't see that from him.
I just think it is funny how a lot of comments above aren't about right and wrong but about skin color. I think that is such an old school mentality. We are now in 2012. Our viewpoints are based on what we see so I guess if we only see skin color and not right and wrong then that is all we know. My black and white isn't skin color it is right and wrong. Plainly, if someone has the intent to deceive then that person is wrong.

Let me ask you something Jill. The fat, older men who are scammed out of thousands- or even killed!- by 20-something strippers and "students"- are they simply men who were looking for love? Are they not partly to blame for their situations? Do age and money not have something to do with the whole thing? Stop singing the innocent white women song. There is a pattern in alot of these relationships and we need to address that in order to slap these women back into common sense. Black men and white women have a nasty habit of seeking interracial relations for the wrong reasons (asian women have similar). The results are very bad and the solution is to address ALL the reasons for the problem.

Freda you have some passion here. I just look at the actions. I think you might be caught up by what you see. I don't usually judge unless there is some action that goes contrary to the words.
I usually go by if it walks like a duck... then its a duck. The best predictor of the future is the past. Lets look at the woman fueling the story. She is a stable person, who served her country, and has solid friends and a solid job. If what "Tim Dog" says is true about her that she would be acting extremely out of character. He is a talker; a sales man. He said in one breath how she wanted to get married and it did look like she was pursing him. It is hard to paint a picture of someone who is a stable person to someone so out of control with her money and her emotions if the past doesn't show that.
Now him on the other hand, ... he's a duck. It is funny the blamers always blame don't they. Look at how he diverts to the race card. Did you see his wife. She's white. Someone who isn't guilty wouldn't throw that card out. His actions would set him free. If she was the only one I might agree with you but she's not.
I think race in this situation doesn't play a part. I'm just not that all or nothing. I don't say all whites are like this or all women are like this or all... you get the picture.
Everyone has an opinion. I am happy how I see the world because I just am past the surface judging.
I do think that you are right on the moral situation about who is right and wrong. She did want to find a husband. She wanted love and he could see that. So when he knew that; should he string her along for months? Just saying, If he was detached enough to see that then where is the moral obligation to her? He should have pushed her away or then he is taking advantage of her.
Now with her she should have looked at herself to realize you can't really know a person in a few months. So I am sure she is kicking herself for that.

I see what Tim Dog is and I see what the women are. I have never said that means Tim Dog is innocent. I have been clear and fair in saying that their are differen types of scams and different types of victims. To solve the problem, you don't look at ALL factors and dimiss the ones you find distasteful.
Tim Dog is an abuser and criminal who seeks out white women. There is a reason for that and its not simply HIS problem. He sees something in white women that you don't want to admit. That doesn't mean that only white women get scammed. It just means that if you are trying to fight certain TYPES of scams, you need to address the pattern of who is involved.
Example- you don't handle adoption scams involving rich couples looking to get a healthy, white infant without waiting, the same way you handle adoption scams committed against regular couples who followed the rules and were willing to wait. Its not a judgment on the rich couples. Its just that the situations are very different- even though is all adoptions scams and all are cruel (to the couples).
You are the being selective in what you see for the wrong reasons and its not helping anyone.

Are you saying black men in general. What kind of stereotype is that. People from all races scam others. In this case it was the white women looking for black men who had fame and looking to leverage that fame.

Black men are no strangers to this type of con , but young and/or blond white women are usually the women fleecing men out of their money. Search Dateline for stories and that is what you will see. True crime cable TV shows are full of these stories.
The world is as blind and fixated on white women aas sex objects as it is on black men and you can find examples on BOTH sides of that being exploited.

These women are not inncocent victims- but they are victims.
Tim Dog has a truly nasty core. He HATESwomen and it is telling that he has decided to live a life that is almost exclusively full of non-black women (white and mulatto). His choice hasn't seemed to improve his view of women as predators and hysterical liars. Nor has his love of white women and a fancy condo in Atlanta stopped him from seeing America as a place that is racist agianst a black man (note he said black MAN and not black- since most black men claim black women have it easy).

The women are telling the truth...for anyone to say the women are stupid or other negative comments against woman... guess what it happens to men too...and in my own experience (gay men, straight, blk/white etc., - mainly blk in my own experience are most skilled and deceptive at beings low class cons, leech and liars... And if anyone I met on line asked for money as a gift of investment I would think, ARE YOU CRAZY? I'm sorry for these women---but where were you when they handed our brains?
I watched "The Perfect Catch" and was taken by how these supposedly smart, successful women lowered their standards in trying to find LOVE. What were they thinking????? So desperate. Using dating services has worked for tens of thousands of people across the world - this was "How Not to Use the Internet to Meet a Man." Mailing thousands of dollars to a man they never met; driving hours to his apartment in a different state - and even moving in his apartment with their daughter. Ladies: You're not 20 years old and stupid --- but I was amazed by your lack of standards. I would never drive 1 block to meet a guy like this. I've been watching Dateline, 20/20, 60 Minutes, Judge Judy --- for too many years to know NEVER GIVE A MAN MONEY - SCAM. About LOVE --- Take your time and know who you're meeting. Also, meet his family, friends, and --- run a profile on him.

This isn't just about black men or rappers. All these dating sites are flawed by misleading, manipulative, unscrupulous men. I'm not saying there aren't women doing this but the majority I've seen are men. I was scammed by a man I met on senior people meet. Came across as a hard working, educated, successful man from Medford. We fell in "love" and he moved to my home with no job which we knew it may take a few weeks to find a job as a alcohol and drug counselor because there is a high demand. He just didn't look for one at least full time work. He was VERY happy to have me pay his school loans, pay day loans, car insurance, credit card, gas, groceries, and purchased him a new wardrobe so he would look better at interviews that he never went on. He landed in the hospital via ambulance transport and guess who paid for that too? He got money from his mother to buy me a christmas gift. I paid to move his minor furniture in a very small u-haul truck to my home. I had to have surgery and was off work for 3 months on disability but when I went back to work and he still was only working 2-3 4 hr shifts a week I became suspicious. While we were living together I discovered he was on line with other women lying to them too. He had all the right words and through counseling discovered he is a sociopath/narsasistic. He had been jailed in Medfrord for rape but got off. One of the women he moved in with while still professing his love to me, he married her within 2 months after meeting her. She is a single mother of 5 boys, twin boys that live at home here in Oregon. She contacted me just 2 months after they married because she felt uneasy. He manipulated her into putting her name on her accounts and she paid some back taxes of his to the tune of $5000 but that wasn't paying it off there was more he owned but always had an explanation for why it wasn't paid. He left me in debt to the tune of almost $10,000 and now creditors still call me asking for him because he is giving them my address and phone number. He has changed his number so many times it's no wonder that can't catch up to him.There is so much more to this story but women need to do background and financial checks on these men once they learn their REAL names. Even his family members never told me anything about him. He told me he didn't have a relationship with his two daughters because of their mother saying bad things about him, no kidding. But he told it like a poor little boy. I am completely off dating sites and will never do it again. If I ever meet another man I'll talk to his friends and family...if he has any. Even church has them in there because he professed he was a Christian. He was preying on women on Christian Mingle also. All his tentacles out just waiting for a good catch. At least it's over but be careful!!

To get to the bottom of the problem we need to ask questions about the TYPES of scam and the TYPES of people involved. Questions like:
Why asks these questions? Isn't it all just about right and wrong- that simple? NO!
FOR EXAMPLE: If men are ending up dead on the east coast and all the men were old, rich and jewish men who just brought over russian brides. You can not handle this the same way you handle an American woman being scammed by a American guy she met on J-Date (the Jewish dating site). If your treat the men like simply niave guys looking for love, you risk giving them the idea that they can continue chasing young, foreign tail. In 5 years you may find yourself with fewer cases of russian brides fleecing and killing old, rich American men and more cases of ASIAN mail order brides fleecing or killing old, rich America...... or you may find an increase in these men killing mail order brides! If you ignore the seedier motivations of some victims and you make them look and feel INNOCENT- you are only allowing the problem to continue or making a new one.

So many of these comments are twisted and transparent. Clearly, this "Tim Dog" guy is a fraudster; this couldn't be any clearer. The man posting obsessively about the women wanting "black meat between their legs"....ummm...YOU ARE SCARY.
These were lonely women looking for love and attention. The fraudster gave it to them. It's that simple. They were astoundingly naive, but lets not let our racism and misogyny distort reality. I have no sympathy for Esther Pilgrim. WHY would she (or any other woman) interact with an individual with the online moniker of @ perfectone69 and a gangsta rapper with an album entitled, "Penicillin On Wax"? Those factors scream player on steroids.
