i'll bet if you went back to this county and looked into all the murder convictions for 5 years either way of this conviction, 50% of them would be false. it's just the way they (the cops) operated back then....heck probably still do! and the county/state, etc. will not easily let them go...because of $$$....they don't want to get sued for crappy police work that was done back then.

When I saw the ending, I was shocked. I believe Barry Beach is innocent. He should be freed.

When there is a preponderance of evidence that there could be innocence, it should never be ignored.

I would like to know who is the person who left that hand print? And with no circumstantial or physical evidence of Barry Beach's linking him to the crime scene, how could he have ever been convicted? Solely

.... it accidently removed the final part... hmmmm...continuing on:

Solely based on a false confession? Centurian Ministries are such a stellar group of amazing people.

May Barry Beach stay free forever!

Being raised in Montana and having relatives over by Glasgow and Wolf Point, this story captured my attention. I am not one who usually watches Dateline or 20/20 since these shows have been so focused on crime and murder. However, the more I watched the more fascinated that I became. This is an incredible story of how God is answering the prayers of a mother regarding her son alleged wrongful conviction of murder. Some would chalk it up to coincidence, while others see miracle upon miracle for this man who had no hope of parole get a hearing that no one thought he could get; be denied freedom by the board; have his volunteer defense team appeal for a judical review that was considered a "Hail Mary"; get the judical review and gain freedom pending a new trial.

I will be interesting to see what the final outcome will be? Will new evidence come to light that will keep him free? Will the sheriff's and the Louisana detective's testimonies remain creditable or will they be found to have colluded to send an innocent man to prison?

Then AAG Mark Ratcico (misspelling intentional) is still one of the most disengenuous liars (read career lawyer/politician) that this state has ever seen. It is completely unbelievable that a man of his education and experience would not see the ambivalence in Barry's 'confession' versus the evidence. It is not unbelievable that other evidence disappeared from our beleaguered state crime lab, or that the state parole board continued to hinder Beach's release.

Without regard for justice, Racicot used this case to increase his statewide name recognition before a successful run for the Governor's office in 1992. Though a small-town Montanan himself, he used the governorship to push utility deregulation through the legislature, a mistake for which we all still pay. This increased his nationwide recognition with yet another corrupt governor, George Bush Jr., who helped make Mark the national Republican Party chairman in 2000, after disgusted Montanans ran him out of the state.

I am disgusted with the American justice system. After hearing the story of Barry Beach, it looks like U.S. prosecutors, judges and law enforcement officials are nothing but a bunch of criminals themselves. All they want is to put SOMEONE in prison no matter what. I say that sheriff who forced Beach to confess to that crime should be prosecuted for his crime. But of course we rarely prosecute our own law enforcement. Because we should "trust" our law enforcement.

I would also like to appeal to President Barack Obama to create comprehensive laws to protect innocent people like Barry Beach from being imprisoned and of course to convict any law enforcement officials for coercing confessions onto innocent people. The United States judiciary system and law enforcement is CORRUPT AND ROTTEN TO THE CORE!

The prosecutor needs to lose his hubris and learn some humility.

We are totally disgusted with the State of Montana justice system. It proved throughout the entire show that the confession that Barry gave and the evidence showed were and still are 2 different things. The state sure has the burden of proof when they go back to court. Lost evidence in the Crime Lab and of course our FORMER govenor/prosecutor still thinks he is right. He screwed the state and an innocent person.

Barry Beach deserves to remain free and the girls who did this horrible crime need to be brought to justice instead.

I noticed when The prosecutor was asked about the man who said he saw a truck load of at least five people,His response was that there was no fingerprints to prove that. But yet they were O.K. convicting a man with no finger prints.Hmmm. It's not about winning. It's about caring enough to get the real killer.
