As the founder and director of The ART of Driving, an educational awareness program for teens and parents, I am glad we are having this conversation. I was not surprised by the reaction of most of the teens on last nights segment. Research tell us that the majority of teens will not speak up when faced with an unsafe situation. We started the Teen Task Force...teaching teens how to "find their voice" and how to handle such situations. This has all been done in memory of my daughter,Ashley. www.theartofdriving.org
Great show - however, I do not recall hearing too much about the fact that underage drinking is illegal. Kids will drink at parties and your advice is good and I have printed it for daughter to read. But the legal issue is huge and is not talked about enough. It's illegal to drink before a certain age, period. It's pretty simple. Your kid drinks before he/she is of age, turn them in. If they rob a bank, quote another's words and not reference, run a red light, cheat on tests, speed, sell dope, etc. - illegal - and kids pay the price (if caught). If you catch your kid(s) drinking, turn them in - it's illegal. There won't be a problem anymore. Too harsh - tough.
Where can I watch this episode? I missed it.
