Sep 2: 'Somebody's Daughter'

Josh Mankiewicz reports on the mystery behind the West Mesa Murders— a story that made national headlines after the remains of 11 female bodies were found in a desert graveyard outside of Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2009.  The story of this unsolved case has investigators racing against time to find the killer, leading them to search for clues in Albuquerque's "war zone," where drugs and prostitution create a breeding ground for danger and even death.

Told through the eyes of the city's missing persons detective Ida Lopez, viewers watch as the clues unfold in a story that has captured the attention of media across the country but has yet to lead to an arrest. With the killer still potentially at large, Lopez is intent to see that these women, most of whom were prostitutes and whose disappearance went largely unnoticed for years, get a fair shot at justice. "I have to keep believing that we'll find an answer soon. Soon could be months, could be years. But I have to keep believing that today could be the day. Today could be the day," she says.

Wow what a story Josh Mankiewicz did a great job. My heart goes out to the families who suffered a great lost. Regardless of the women lifestyles they are still humans and someone daughter. I don't think women who are prostitutes or drug addicts should be treat any different then a normal civilian. I feel detective Ida Lopez, is an angel she did a great job. Also the Albuquerque detectives seems to be working hard to solve this case I pray to God that the killer is found. The families need closure. This story has touched my heart U posted the link on my Facebook page hoping it will go around the world to inspire others.

Somebody's Daughter was a sad story. I recall hearing something about it, but probably because of their drug problem and prostitution they were overlooked by the media. I hope the detectives continue looking for the killer. Have they compared notes with detectives on Long Island, NY? There is a serial killer in that area killing prositutes and burying them.

I am sure you have thought of this, but I want to say it anyway.

All of these young ladies bodies where buried in the same location. That for one thing tell you something. I think he wanted to keep them close. He knew where they were. If this killer is still alive, start looking at satellite images. Because if he is still out there he is not done killing. He has found a new location for his new girls, and I think it will be harder to find them.

My heart goes out to the families that have lost there daughters to a such away. They are people too!
