Ann Curry shares a story of generosity. Amid job losses and the recession, the people of Grafton, Wisc. came together to renovate the home of one extraordinary family. The volunteer efforts resulted in a gift this struggling town did not expect -- hope and inspiration.

Another wonderful story of how people still love people and are willing to give and share when they are needed.
Thank you for sharing.
I just finished watching "America Now: A Circle of Hands". This story moved me to tears to see how ordinary people can and do step up to the plate and help their fellow man. It doesn't take "Extreme Makeover- Home Edition"...with any number of celebrities, to make a difference in our world. If we only take the opportunity to do our part.
I just want to thank you for showing such a kind caring community. I have almost become somewhat jaded in some of my thinking and now have renewed hope myself by just viewing this wonderful family and the community that rallied around them!! My only question, is.....how can we help the gentleman who had just lost his job and was moving in with his sister, and was quoted as saying "God will never give you anything you can't handle". If there is somewhere or some how I can help I would appreciate a website or somewhere where I can make a donation to him.
Thank you again for my renewal of hope.
Sincerely,
Tammy DeBord Baird
I now have a job and working to get back on my feet. It has been rough but I will make it and God has helped keep my head in the right direction.
Thank you, thank you for the beautiful Cicle Of Hands story. We are still the greatest country in the world. We may have some political leader that tries to divide and conquor but this story has renewed my faith in our country. No matter how bad things get we will stick together and fight for what is right and how we need to care about each other. We have been sidetracked but that will end and we will reunite and move forward togethe as a country.Things will get better and we will remember to be a kinder, gentler society.Thank you again for this wonderful stiry about who we really are.

I am a senior citizen. I have never writte a "fan" letter before. Thank you so much for the "Circle of Hands" story. Not only does it represent Americans at their best it represents Americans as they always are given a chance. God beless those neighbors in Wisconsin for assisting that family but also for reminding us who we are and and can be. I have great hope for the future of this country because of the goodness of the people who live here .
Thank you so much for this positive story! This is the kind of news America needs!
One of the most inspiring stories I have ever watched. I agree, this is the kind of stories we Americans need to see. If only we can all share and give our time to those who need, America will be great again.
We loved this story. It was a tear jerker. sure would like to get a copy of the Poem that
was read at the end. It was so heart warming. Thank you for this wondeerful piece of
reporting.
The story tonite on your station was so overwelming my husband and I could not keep the tears away, Until we seen your story we thought we had it bad . In 2003 we lost all belongings in a fire, but that family has our LOVE and God Bless them all ; the Mother has a wonderful family. Barb PS May God take care of all who helped in any way.
I loved this story. It was so awesome to see people who are suffering themselves, coming together to help the Longoria family! I feel rejuvated and love for all the those involved in this endeavor. You all ROCK!
Thank you Dateline for showing such a positive story in these trying times. Today, more than ever, we need to know that there are still people with good hearts in our communities. Most of us are feeling the brunt of this economy right now. This story just makes me see that even though we are each going thru our own trials and tribulations, people still care. This story left me wanting to do more but not really sure where to start. How would I go about seeing if this type of Hometown Hero program is in my area and if not, what do I do to get it started?
Thanks again Dateline!

What an amazing story of courage, faith and love. I barely blog but I could not help it. This story touched my heart and soul. Ann Curry did an amazing job. The people that live in this town gave of themselves dispite their own troubles.
Thank you for airing this tonight. It was reinforcing to me to see the community coming together for the Longorio family. Wow, that mom sure has had a rough time. Thank goodness she is surrounded by love.
I loved your story tonight but I would like to know why Extreme makeover -Home Edition did not pick this family. This family needed help big time. Thank goodness the Longorio family lives in a loving, giving community that stepped up to the plate to help someone in need. Great job. This makes me want to go out and help people. Thank You
it makes me want to move to wisconsin and what a wonderful place to be from. bless their hearts!!
Love, love, love this episode! Such a beautiful story of amazing human spirit. Thank you, Dateline! Let's see more stories like this!
We need more of this on American television. The willingness of others to help even a stranger still occurs in the real world. Thank you Dateline for airing and lifting up the spirits of America. You even inspired us to do a little neighborhood clean up ourselves!
I too would like to have a copy of The Circle of Hands poem. This was an amazing story of how people come together to help families in need. Prayers for all the family and their illness.
I was very touched by this program, what a wonderful community spirit and what a deserving family, we need more of this type of shows on tv, keep up the good work and bring us more, I also would like to have a copy of circle of hands poem, also who wrote it? thanks
