Deadly Rivals

After watching Datelines story of the two young ladies Sarah and Rachel who was dating the same young man Josh, were very foolish women. Dateline was trying to blame Josh for the girls demise but there is no way he is to blame. These two young ladies were the cause on their own demise. As far as Sarah’s friends, they were no friends at all, all they did was add fuel to an already inferno. Those young ladies make me sick to my stomach. Riding around in a van looking for Rachel and then you all made it your business to get out of the car and fight Rachel. Please, I am sure your actions will lay heavy on your hearts years to come. If you were any kind of friend you should have talked Sarah, you should have directed her energy into something more positive than self destruct. Let his be a valuable lesson to you! Rachel you made some poor choices but sitting behind bars for 24 years will make you think about how you could have did things differently.

First of all, Josh is a despicable human being, no better than the organizer of a dog fighting ring.

He should be punished to the fullest extent. It seems that in comparison, dogs have more rights because those who have been know to organize dog fights get punished.

It's obvious that Rachel was defending herself! Sarah was definitely the aggressor, Rachel had a perfect right to defend herself! They assaulted Rachel in the head. She was also outnumbered. If Rachel hadn't thrown the knife out of reach of the other girls, she could also have been injured or even killed. Actually, Rachel was acting in self defense when she threw the knife. I think she acted bravely and responsibly by throwing the knife out of reach of the other girls who were just as aggressive as Sarah. If not, there may have been more than one casualty that night, and that might have been Rachel. Someone should have advised her to file harassment charges and a restraining order.

Rachel does not deserve a 24-year jail sentence. I think her lawyer should appeal!!

    Old School Executive Assistant,

i agree with u, being young hasn't anything to do with knowing right from wrong, i am a kind hearted man, but i do not feel sorry for Sarah, she should have received more than 27 years! And her so-call girl friends, they are no less as sorry-ass young women just like Sarah! Sarah's so-call girl friend's that was driving her around in that van looking for Rachel should have been charged also with the crime, they drove her to the place with a knife to hurt/kill Rachel! They should have went to jail/prison too and have them some real tough ass jail-house ass girl friends! Sarah had better get her a knife/shank in prison or learn how to fight with her hands real good!

I just watched this story and I am sickened. A young, beautiful girl is put in jail for life for defending herself. Multiple people showed up on her doorstep to hurt her. She FLED to a friends house. Multiple ill intending girls followed her to this friends' house. Alone. She exited her car. She was struck in the face multiple times. She pulled her knife out and stabbed the girl striking her as ANYONE in her situation would do. She will spend the rest of her life in prison. For defending herself. This makes me sick and I hope that this beautiful young girl gets out in time to create a life for herself. Thank you Dateline (and this disgusting thing we call American media) for once again exploiting a precious, young girl. Hope it never happens to one of your daughters.

I believe the attorney should file for an appeal. The so called friends and guys involved should of stood up and resolved the issue or even confronted the idiot boyfriend. She defended herself from a rat pack out to start some trouble or encite or excite a confrontation. Harassment at work, home, friends house what more could she take? In the end someone should of consulted an officer or placed a restraining order or had access to counselors or teen emergency lines for advice. Now we can just pray for the two.

          SWPHXTRKER,

That idiot boyfriend "Josh" is his name, didn't make those 2 young hot pussy women act the way they did over him so STOP trying to blame Josh! If u watched the NBC Dateline show about this did both of those your women have a freakin' knife or just one of them?

In the news we have watched teens in a group single out another girl, and brutality killed her. In the news we have seen even police officers single out a person and kill. Amazing what one does when their really put into a situation as appose to what we say we will do in many situations. We have seen what the internet does to a person when many vulnerable people committed suicide from suggestion. Many studies on what happens when we are bullied, peer pressure, and even professionals with degrees have turned into monsters. Josh, is the main player and old school executive assistant calls the girls foolish? No kidding they were. Josh was a player! We need accountability for all the players/people involved. The most intelligent, independent, loving people have fallen for the player. Josh is not innocent, nor is any player in the game. History has proven how extreme people will go for a cause or person, no matter how absurd to us. Because they believed! Amazing how many people ignore the effects of emotional abuse, trauma, PTSD,

regarding the show deadly rivals, i was very surprised to see the girl get convicted for murder since it was presented as her having been attacked by multiple persons. you have a right to defend your self, even with a knife or gun. makes no difference if she threw the knife on a roof or made previous threats, what matters is who is doing the initial attack. i have to wonder if we were not told certain information. im sure in the time frame allowed by the tv show everything could not be explained but it seems to me that this one didnt make legal sense as presented. i would have to think this verdict would not stand on appeal.

I can't believe she was convicted. Total self defense. One strike, not intent. Release her!!!!!

This dateline episode has me furious... Rachel is in jail for an unlucky stab! The old a$$ jury should be ashamed of themselves. Rachel's lawyer said it perfect "people talk to each other different these days." All the crap that the two girls said back and forth was just talk. If someone comes to your house or in this case in your area and starts to punch you in the head you should be able to use whatever force necessary to take them down!! If it so happens that you kill them with a more ferocious punch, knife, gun, bat, etc.. than you were just well prepared. In closing what if she wouldn't have died, what if the stab would have been a couple of inches to the left or right.. We wouldn't even be talking about this and she sure as $hit wouldn't be in jail for half of her life or on dateline... what a load of crap!!!

First of all, Josh is no better than the leader of a dog fighting ring. He took pleasure in seeing the girls fighting (for his attention) and in the end, lead Sarah to where Rachel would be that night. He should be held 100% responsible for his actions and punished accordingly.

This was obviously a case of self-defense. Sarah was the aggressor asking for trouble from Rachel who had been outnumbered when they began punching her in the head. I think that Rachel acted in self defense when she threw the knife out of sight (onto the roof) so that no one else would be hurt (mainly herself) and acted responsibly by getting the knife out of reach of others as stated in her testimony. Rachel should have reported the incident's (Sarah coming to her work place) to the police, file harassment charges, and restraining orders.

I believe that the jury got hung up on the language of the text messages and photos on "my space, and judged Rachel's character that way. I think Rachel's lawyer should appeal and move to another town/state in front of a younger, more open minded jury. From what I could see, Rachel had class. She handled herself with restraint the whole time she was being harassed. She never seemed to me to be the aggressor. She appeared to be a very responsible, independent, nineteen-year-old living on her own, having to defend herself alone.

I think that Josh used Sarah time and time again to get Rachel's attention, since it didn't seem as though Rachel was as hung up over Josh as Sarah since, for Rachel, he was just an old school mate, not a novelty to her as he had been for Sarah. I think Josh used Sarah to get Rachel's attention because he REALLY liked Rachel. And if that were the case, then possibly Sarah felt it too which may have been the reasons why she taunted Rachel so relentlessly. This is a sad situation that should be looked at on a deeper level. Rachel should not have to serve a 24-year jail term. Her attorney should APPEAL!!
