I have a challenge with the office of children's services. Are they abusing their power to take children away from people who obviously love those children very much and would do anything in the world for them. My daughter was having a hard time last October and her father and I volunteered to help her out by taking her 3 children for a while to help her get on her feet. Throughout circumstances we thought my oldest granddaughter (4 at the time) had been sexually molested. It was not the case. My husband and I have been a big part of our grandchildren's lives and they were still in our care when ocs decided that we were no longer able to take care of our grandchildren, alleging that my husband was molesting the oldest. When we went to court to try to prove our case we were shut down. We are appealing the decision, but without the aid of expensive lawyers to help us we are limited. We are also not the only case in the state of Alaska that this same exact scenario has happened. Where can people like us turn to for help? We have tried the ombudsman's with no luck. As far as I can see ocs can just walk in and take whom ever they please with out any repercussions. For the whole story please look at our face book entry.
